I had so much fun simply paging through Petit Collage (affiliate link) by Lorena Siminovich. The projects are all so lively and fantastic I don’t know how anyone can resist the urge to make them all. The subtitle of this book is 25 Easy Craft and Decor Projects for a Playful Home and you will definitely find all of that and more between the covers.

The first thing I was drawn to was the colorful paper used in all of the projects. Any time I go to the craft store, I find myself drawn to all of the amazing scrapbooking paper bins even though I am not much of a scrapbooker.  The projects in this book will give me an excuse to actually buy some of the amazing paper rather than just looking at it.

Upon reading through the introduction and other parts of this book, I realized the author and I share a love for upcycling (turning old, unwanted, or trash items into something new and exciting). Many of the projects in this book encourage you to recycle items you already have or that you can find at second hand shops, flea markets, or garage sales.  They also give you the opportunity to use paper related items you have been saving from special events or occasions, such as concert tickets, pages from play bills, or vacation mementos.

While the projects in this book were designed with kids in mind, the intent is for adults to make them for children. However, older kids should be able to complete many of them on their own, and younger kids would have a lot of fun helping.

As the subtitle explains, you will find 25 craft and decor projects in this book. They are broken down into 3 levels (easy, intermediate, and advanced) but most of them are quite easy. The main reason the author gave some of them intermediate or advanced levels because they take a little more time or tools to finish.  This makes choosing a fast and simple project easy if you are in the mood for a quick craft fix!

Not only is this booked packed full of quality projects, I found it to be made of quality material. This may seem like a strange thing for me to point out, but the quality of each page really stood out because the pages were so thick I found myself double checking to make sure I was only flipping one at a time. It is also packed full of high quality photos and easy-to-follow, step-by-step directions.
