What better way to teach kids about Presidents’ Day and about American Presidents than by trying some of these Presidents’ Day crafts and activities?!
Perhaps the best thing about teaching kids about Presidents’ Day is that you might learn something new too — for example, did you know that it didn’t start out being called Presidents’ Day? When it was founded, in 1885, it was officially called Washington’s Birthday and was celebrated on February 22nd each year (Washington’s actual birthday). It wasn’t officially called Presidents’ Day until 1971, when it was included as part of The Uniform Monday Holiday Act. This act made it so the holiday was celebrated on the third Monday of each February.
