This cute little lamb craft is the perfect project for this time of year. Why? The reason is two-fold!
First of all, lambs are associated with Easter, which is less than three weeks away. The lamb is not only a traditional meal for some on Easter Sunday, it also represents Jesus.
Some people also associate lamb with the month of March. This is because of an old saying –“March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.” While our March definitely came in like a lion (By the way, did you see my cute lion craft at the beginning of the month?) I don’t think it is quite going out like a lamb (barely 20 degrees F and snowy!). That won’t stop me from making this cute lamb. How about you?
Supplies Needed to Make a Paper Plate Lamb:
- Paper Plate
- Paint
- Cotton Balls
- Black Paper
- Pink Pom-Pom
- Pink Chenille Stem
- Large Google Eyes
- Craft Glue
Tools Needed:
- Paint Brush
- Scissors
The first thing you need to do is to paint the center of the paper plate black. This will be the lamb’s face. If you like, you certainly don’t have to use black. You can paint your lamb’s face any color you like.
Let the black paint dry a little bit and then you can add the lamb’s wool. Use a generous amount of glue to adhere cotton balls all around the outer edge of the paper plate.
Your lamb is now ready for a face. Glue on two large wiggle eyes. I used a large, pink pom-pom for the nose and a pink chenille stem for the mouth. I cut an 8-inch piece of chenille stem and folded it in half. I then curved up each end to look like a smile. Glue on the mouth before you glue on the nose.
To make the ears, start off my cutting to oval shapes from black paper. Once again, you don’t have to use black simply because I did. Use your imagination to make your paper plate lamb any color you want.
The final step is to glue the ears onto your lamb. Spread glue on the back of each ear shape and then set them on top of the cotton balls on either side of the face.
Let the glue dry and then your lamb craft is done. Hang it up and enjoy!
