Believe it or not, Halloween is not a holiday that is enjoyed by all kids. Despite the prospect of getting free candy, some kids don’t want to participate in anything Halloween related because it is just too scary for them. This doesn’t exclusively apply to very young kids, sometimes older kids feel the same way.
There are many ways you can help these kids celebrate this amazing holiday. You can steer them towards non-scary costumes. You can let them help you make treats that are more fun than scary, such as these candy corn recipes. There are also plenty of crafts that you can make that they won’t be afraid of.
You can focus your crafts on pumpkins. There are many ways to decorate and craft pumpkins that are not scary at all, including decorating picture of pumpkins with buttons and ribbons or colored pumpkin seeds. You can also show the kids how to build sweet scarecrows using scraps of paper and Con-Tact paper, mix up a batch of pumpkin pie play dough, or make a trick-or-treat countdown chain.
You can find directions to make all of these crafts and more in this craft round-up I created for FamilyCorner.com:Â 10 Non-Scary Ways to Craft with Kids for Halloween
